PCY60 Cymbal

PCY60 Cymbal

2004-03-17 by n999gun

Hi Guys good to see this message board is really busy again. I need
a question answered. As I do not own a Yamaha kit can somebody
please tell me would a PCY60 Cymbal work as a Hihat pad. What i Mean
is it capable and strong enough to stand the pace. I have just won
one of Ebay and was going to use it as a ride or a splash but I
would like to use it as a hhat if iam able to clamp it down tight on
the straight cymbal arms I have.

Hope this is easy to answer.

Yes. Both OGD and I use a PCY65S as a hi-hat pad and like it a lot.
Much better shaped area for a hat.

I would have been concerned if you'd said a PCY80S, as I don't think
the rim switch in the 80S is up to it - I have broken two in a year
(though I did buy them well-used on eBay). However the 60 is mono so
you should be fine.

Only issue you may have is rotation if you didn't get an L-rod with
your cymbal. But as it's a hat, you can clamp it fairly tight.

I'll second (third?) that. Using a cymbal pad for the hi-hat has
vastly improved my playing thereof on the DTXpress. I seem to be
able to play in a more relaxed manner than on the TP65 which I now
use as a fourth tom.

Just out of interest what connection deos the PCY60 have a 1/4 inch jack or a 1/8th inch jack as the one I am getting has no lead so I will go out and get one so I can use it as soon as I get it.
Thanks for the replies guys

1/4" mono jack is all that is needed.
