I´m looking to buy another PCY65S for my kit. My question is about that little black metal part which sits just below the top of the arm and prevents the cymbal to swing around, Is it coming with the PCY65S or with the arm? Does anybody know the Yamaha code number for this part in case that I would have to buy it as a spare part? Regards -Bongo-

Why don't you check with Drumbalaya.com.? Yamaha used to ship its stopper with the stereo cymbals, like Roland did, but they may have stopped. I think the price is outrageous a la carte. Somebody on this site once described a DIY stopper. You might search the archives under "cymbal stopper" or something like that. Ed

Ed, indeed I checked with Thomann and Drumbalaya but their photos and text of the relevant items don´t reveal whether the stopper is a part of the package. Regards -Bongo- --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "emf" <liberatusvirus@y...> wrote:

Back when OGD was buying these new for his monster kit, I believe he found that the stopper was included as standard with the PCY65S, but not with the mono PCY65. Stewart

PS: I had posted a similar question several weeks ago inquiring about the same part. I finally called YAMAHA customer service. The person who helped me was very courteous, and even made the effort to send me a copy of the part list for the DTXpress. However from what the service rep told me, this item costs $45.00. Thats right...$45.00!!! The part # that was given to me by the rep was "V8254400"....hope this helps. emf <liberatusvirus@...> wrote: --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "bongokonzelmann" <carsten@h...> wrote: > Im looking to buy another PCY65S for my kit. The L-stabilizer bracket only cames with the PCY80S and the PCY65S stereo versions of the cymbals and not with the mono pad version of the cymbals. When I was trying to find them for my PCY65 pads, they were available for $19. Some of the online vendors where taking them out of the PCY65S/PCY80S boxes and selling them separately. I know this because when calling around for pricing/availability, some of the vendors would say that the PCY80S/PCY65S did NOT come with the L-stabilizer bracket, but is was available separately for $19-$29US. The manual that comes with the pads clearly state that the L-Stabilizer is included from the factory with the PCY80S/PCY65S. Considering that the complete pad with cable and bracket is only $55 and Yamaha is selling the bracket for $45, that is a easy choice for me, as to which way to go. There are a few folks here that have made "Home-brewed" brackets and depending on your DIY skills may be the way to go. Typically, with Yamaha components, if they are not under warranty and you do not have the DIY skill to fix it, it is cheaper to just throw it away and buy a new. For example the FSR ribbon that is in the TP65S and PCY65S can be bought directly from Yamaha, but it will cost you more for that ribbon than it would for a complete new cymbal/drum pad. My guess is that the stabilizer is not something that will ever break, so there is no reason for Yamaha to carry any spare inventory and thus the high price. After having called Yamaha about replacement parts in the past, I came to the conclusion that if you can't physically fix it yourself, that it is cheaper to just throw it around and buy a new one. Considering that the complete pad with cable and bracket is I assume the posts on this thread are all from the other side of the pond, but I bought an extra pad/arm and bracket from www.newcastledrumcentre.co.uk . There was a delay of a few weeks while they waited for the pad but otherwise their service was excellent. I made a point of calling them this afternoon to ask about the price, and the "L" brackets are on sale as spares for 12 pounds (gbp). Even the manager in the shop was gobsmacked when I told him some of the prices being talked about. He couldnt give me an exact price for postage to the states but on a small item it shouldnt cost much. Hope it is of some help.
