Wow @ Behringer KX1200

2004-05-29 by Rob

Just got through trying it out, sounds really good, its like I have a
new kit as well. After staring at the wall and playing through
headphones since December, I'm ready for a rental and real people.
Man am I in for a treat or what.....

Hey Rob, are you saying that you just tried out the Behringer KX1200
with your DTX system? I just got my KX1200 yesterday, however, I
haven't received my DTXPRESS III yet, I don't receive it until Tuesday
of next week. I'm really getting excited about it now. I'm like a
giddy little child on Christmas morning, but Christmas morning never
seems to get here. Thanks for your input, do you have anything else to
add about the KX1200? Let me know, will you please.

Thanks,
Glen

Ohhhh Glen, you are in for the christmas of your life, and you are
getting the III?? I have the II. More about the amps performance, I
have bose triport headphones, plugged into the drum module they sound
amazing, but I put all the sound through the amp, and the bose into
the amp, the quality went from sounding like 150 to 350 dollar
phones. So that amp can really cover the low to highs, its too much
for me to turn it up in the house....(neighbors). I can't wait to go
to a rental and let it loose, I listend to it at the store next to
the roland 300 which is considerably more, the 15" compared to the
rolands 12" hit harder, plus I have seen comments on the rolands
highs lacking, the KX's are crisp. I wish I could see a video of you
pulling the kit out of the box, and then finally sitting on the
throne.....priceless.

Yes! The thing I love about this amp (which I have) is that it's a 3-way
system, which has a better frequency distribution across the spectrum, AND
the power supply/subwoofer combination seems well matched. The latter means
that the the power supply is strong enough to control that big sub
accurately, so that when you really crank the amp, you don't hear that
flubbing and/or the voice coil clanging against the back of the magnet. If
I, a deaf person, can hear that coil clanging, it's GOT to be bad sounding to
people who have normal hearing! I hear that with the Roland keyboard amp
with the 12" sub (I know, a 15" pushes more air than a 12") at fairly loud
levels, plus the bass and hits are simply not as tight (muddy), AND that amp
is even more money than the KX-1200!

Yes... Try having your band mates get the microphone feedback going! IT
HURTS!

Yes. Priceless big time! I rmember the day I got my II kit, a year ago in
March. I took it out, one piece at a time, and laid everything out. And
then I started putting it together. It was amazing, watching it come
together. Mind you, this is my first drum kit of any kind that I've ever
bought (with the exception of a practice pad kit I bought a while back), with
my own money.

I'll never forget the experience...

Damn it's been a while since I posted here the last
time, a new job has kept me extra busy for the last 4
months, haven't even had much time to play, this group
has grown a lot we were around 700 members last time I
checked it's also impossible to read all the posts
from these past months....well enough.

Has anyone had any bad experiences with the KX1200, I
bought myself one of their little mixers, and well, it
improved the sound on my crappy yamaha headphones, I
connect my guitar bass microphone and my newly
acquired keyboard (which I have only played for about
an hour) but still I feel the need to bother
neigh...ehem... to have a good amp, since I have all
the instruments but pathetically don't have anyone to
play with, I would not need to have like a PA, but
still there are some PA at low prices.... basically my
question is if anyone has had bad experiences with
Beringher's KX1200???

Regards, nice to be here again.

Only thing about bringing all this stuff home is being creative with
the wife on how much it costs, lucky for me she just lets me do my
own thing, I brought the amp home with her thinking I bought it in a
parking lot off one of those guys in a white van that go .... hey..
psssssst!! wanna buy an amp? and we just watched a program with all
the scammers out there, she was hoping there would be bricks in the
box so she would have a good laugh, but to her dismay.... a shiny new
amp.
Priceless.

wife found out how much I paid for it, that wouldn't be too good, but
3 bills for it is no money for what it does.

RE: [DTXpress] Re: Wow @ Behringer KX1200

2004-05-29 by Glen D. Earl

Thanks Rob, I appreciate your input and information about the KX1200. I
really am looking forward to getting, setting up, and playing my
DTXPRESS III. I currently have a Tama Rockstar acoustic drumset with
quite a few added pieces of hardware and drums, however, when I demoed,
real briefly, the DTXPRESS III at the Music Store it seemed to have a
much better playing response (recoil) on the heads, etc. than my
acoustic set has. I was quite impressed with the playing of it,
however, the sound system which they had it connected to and the
headphones that were hooked up to it really sucked, big time, so I can't
really say how I feel about the sound of the system other than I was
pretty impressed with how much the acoustic drum kit sounded so much
like the real thing. That's why I posted some request messages earlier
on the group asking about amplification for the DTX because other than
the Rolland and the Yamaha speaker systems, which are advertised for
E-drums, no one really seems to know what other type of good
amplification that can be used with the E-drums. When DAZ answered my
request back mentioning that he had a Behringer KX1200 amp and that it
worked quite well and especially that it only cost between 225.00 and
300.00 dollars, I was extremely interested. That's when I got on the
WEB and started searching around and found one for $249.00, so I ordered
it and received it on Thursday. I tried it with my Epiphone Les Paul
Guitar and it works great with that, however, it isn't really designed
to be a guitar amp and I'm excited to try it with the DTX so I can hear
what I'm missing. Any way, I'm getting extremely excited about
receiving it on Tuesday. Thanks once again for you comments. At this
point I just appreciate anybody's comments I can read about the DTXPRESS
III or the Behringer KX1200 amp, because, it helps me pass the time
until Tuesday gets here and then I can have the time of my life, so it
sounds.

Thanks Again,
Glen

RE: [DTXpress] Wow @ Behringer KX1200

2004-05-29 by Glen D. Earl

Thanks Stephanie, like I just told Rob, I really do appreciate any
comments about either the DTXPRESS III or the Behringer KX1200 that
anyone can give. It's all I have to go by until I receive my kit next
Tuesday. I did receive my KX1200 this past Thursday, however, all I
have to test it with is my Gibson Epiphone Les Paul guitar, which, as
I'm sure you know, doesn't have the real lows or the extreme highs, like
we need for the DTX, in order to test it thoroughly. As far as size,
however, the KX1200 isn't extremely impressive, is it? Its funny how
times have changed, in that regard, when I was growing up, the larger
the amp the better. Now, it seems that you can't really tell at all
about the volume or quality of amplification by the size of it. It's
like my surround sound system to my entertainment center, I have an
extremely expensive surround sound speaker system hooked up to my
system, however, it looks like it would be no big deal, until you turn
it on and especially crank it up, then look out. It will blow you away,
and I don't mean just volume, I mean with some of the lowest of lows and
the highest of highs with absolutely no distortion or feedback what so
ever. It is fantastic that they found a way to come of with a way to
get that kind of size to play that kind of quality and volume out of it.

Any way, enough of my rambling on, I just wanted to thank you for your
input about the KX1200, as well. It makes me feel a whole lot better
now that I know that I have purchased a fairly highly rated
amplification system for the DTX.

Thanks again,
Glen

Hmmm. Well, looks like I am going to buy that Behringer KX1200 as
well. It's been a comp between the Kustom 100watt keyboard amp (I
foprget the number) and the Behringer KX1200. Looks to me like the
KX1200 is getting some good reveiws and comments. Well, off to youth
group.
