Digital BW, The Print

I'm confounded.

QTR works just fine on my Mac, but I need to use the Windows version
as well. I d'loaded the Win version, plus QTRgui, but it won't print
properly. The resulting images are stretched horizontally, so that 1/3 of the original image
fills the space that the entire image should have. There is also severe banding, and very 
flat contrast - a much too dark print. This does not occur using the Epson driver.

I'm using an 8bit PS file converted to tiff for printing, not yet
using the new Lab profiles, and I'm on XP.

I've tried:

1. Updating the printer firmware
2. Printing at 1440, 1440 Super, and 2880
3. Rotating the originally horizontal image to a vertical
4. USB and FireWire

None of this makes any difference.
