Yeah, thanks for your reply again, Steve.  Unfortunately, the suggested method 
doesn't really seem to apply to the new easy install procedure in v2.1d.  There 
is no CurveDropBox anymore that I can find.  

The install automatically sets up a printer which I have now named, 
QUAD2200MK.  You load the curves into that first printer the same way as in 
v2.0, using the terminal launched by the curves installer file. However, there 
doesn't seem to be any way to get the curves into the second Quad printer 
selected in the Printer Setup Utility. 

The good news is that the Epson 2200 Firewire printer I selected in the Printer 
Setup Utility to print colour, does work without having to trash/reinstall the 
printers etc.  So your idea would work if I only knew how to install a second 
QUAD2200PK printer and get the curves loaded.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
