I recall someone mentioning a supplier of monochrome inks from a supplier in the EU (I think maybe Germany) on one of the lists I follow, but now can't find the relevant post anywhere. Does anyone know an EU supplier for either MIS or Piezography inks in an EU country please. (I want to avoid hassles with import duties taxes and VAT collection, so US is not an option). Thanks, mike

I believe that Jon Cone has an EU based reseller. I suggest that you get in touch with InkjetMall. Terry.

Mike, In the UK the VAT/Duty process is pretty much hassle free. Either you give the courier a cheque when they deliver the item or if you use post the post office sends you a bill that you pay online and then they deliver next day. Couldn't be easier. You probably can create a set from the monochrome inks available in the other sets. Either talk with them. http://www.image-specialists.com/about_us_global_dis.aspx Another option is to get HP Z3100-Z3200 monochrome carts in 130 ml size. maybe things have changed since I last ordered something from the USA, which was some years ago, when I had to collect from the depot and pay not only VAT and duties, but also a substantial handling charge.

Its got easier, but not cheaper :) They still charge a handling charge. But one in every three of four shipments slips through without charges and that's offsets the handling charge :) Mike On 6 October 2010 10:10, ekng532 <ekng532@...> wrote: > > > maybe things have changed since I last ordered something from the USA, > which was some years ago, when I had to collect from the depot and pay > not only VAT and duties, but also a substantial handling charge. > > On 06/10/2010 09:16, Michael King wrote: > > Mike, > > > > In the UK the VAT/Duty process is pretty much hassle free. > > Either you give the courier a cheque when they deliver the item or if you > > use post the post office sends you a bill that you pay online and then > they > > deliver next day. Robert Grafton of Gemini mentioned in the link above probably can help you with MIS like quad sets. The HP Vivera OEM inks are also available in 68 ml sizes and 130 ml twin packs. A parcel I received in September from MIS had a âUK Border Agencyâ receipt affixed which stated as follows: âGoods purchase and imported into the EU with a value over £18 (for VAT purposes) and over £135 (for import duty purposes)⦠are subject to customs chargesâ There are some exceptions such as tobacco products and alcohol. I was told that if the value of less than £18 is observed not only is the consignment not liable to tax nor handling charges but it is less likely to be delayed in clearance. Not using this system for buying inks I reckon I saved 50% as against buying from Tom van de Wakker at Refill Ink B.V. I emailed him and told him so but had no response. I reckon I would save even more by keeping the value of orders from MIS below£18/=. Cheers, Colin Conway --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, ekng532 <ekng532@...> wrote:

I am in the UK , but still buy ink from the US. It still usually works out cheaper than any EU source I have found (for me at any rate since Mwords closed down). Bear in mind that postage is often added to the 'value' of imports so it is pretty easy to go over the £18. I now just buy a large bottle of eboni black from MIS and mix my own inks. It is not that difficult thanks to Paul Roark's sterling generosity and openness. A large bottle will last an awfully long time and save you a lot of money even after paying postage and import duty. I think Lyson/Marrutt and Permajet sell monochrome ink in the UK, but I have never tried them for ink although I do buy refillable carts from Marrutt. You may be rejected it too soon. You could use HP inks together with MIS/Image Specialists Eboni for matte paper. HP ink will print on matte, but it will not give your DMax that Eboni will give. From the other side it is more neutral than Eboni. Search this forum for various combinations of HP/Eboni inks solutions with C6 base. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, ekng532 <ekng532@...> wrote:

Of the normal OEM pigment inksets the HP Vivera MK scores the highest Dmax on matte papers in (not only) my experience. At least with HP Z models. It runs in my humble HP K5400 too with a homemade CIS. My HpZ3100 Mk Vivera reads an everyday 1.80 d-max on Photorag 308 for nearly 4 years now. I'd like to see Ebony or anything else equal that! Epson is 1.66, same with most of the others including Canon Lucia MK. And these inks have outstanding longevity. HP is kind of a strange giant corporation but I don't think they get enough credit for the really fine quality these inks can exhibit with black and white on matte rag media. john --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Ernst Dinkla <edinkla@...> wrote:

Hmm, I was writing about combination Eboni with HP PK (which probably was the ink that Paul refered as glossy only). HP PK in my experience gives less DMax than Eboni on matte papers. I didn't mean to compare it to the HP MK -- I never used it. --Sergei --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "john" <deanwork2003@...> wrote:

I see. PK should never be used on matte media it isn't designed for it. It has a great dmax on gloss media. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "santonov2you" <drumscanner@...> wrote:

If you would like a turn-key system, and we do not have a distributor in your Country, we will sell you a system with a discount that should be at least the equivalent of your VAT taxes. Right now the Euro is very strong compared to the dollar - and this should provide you with an excellent value in trying Piezography®. You can contact me off line at jon (at) inkjetmall (dot) com If we support your printer, you simply need to pull down a menu selection in QTR to one of our supplied curves to get a perfect result - without having to mix your own inks, etc...
