Mixing UT 14 Ink Set

Mixing UT 14 Ink Set

2013-03-17 by remononaz1

My supply of inks for the UT14 ink set is running low. I'm planning to order the UT14 black, cyan and magenta inks from MIS. I have plenty of PR-CLEARBASE-PT. What is the correct dilution be to make up the light cyan and light magenta inks?

That base -- http://www.inksupply.com/product-details.cfm?pn=PR-CLEARBASE-PT--
is made for Noritus/Claria dye dilution.

UT14 K is Eboni. None of the ligher UT14 inks are dilute Eboni.

The UT14 "color" position inks use MIS/InkSupply.com "amber" base. See
http://www.inksupply.com/product-details.cfm?pn=ESC-BASEPT-UC

The light inks -- LC and LM -- use 30% concentrate ink (C and
M, respectively and 70% amber base. The UT14 Y is gloss optimizer, which
is the same as the amber base.

Since you have to buy the amber base from MIS/Inksupply.com, there is no
savings from diluting your own. The amber base costs the same as the
dilute ink.

OK, Thanks for the clarification. I was hoping I could use up some of the clearbase I have dilute the magenta and cyan, but I guess not. I might as well spring for a full set.

Where purchasing the amber base & 1 UT14-C & 1 UT14-M is convient if you want to experiment with different dilution or for different projects.

For example, you could mix a LK , LLK, & LLLK inks out of either of the UT14-C or UT14-M to obtain a tritone or quadtone. What I have seen on the UT14 inks & 1400 printer, this really is a bit extreme but doable.
