Excessive head cleanings on Epson R3000

Excessive head cleanings on Epson R3000

2015-04-16 by mccarvill@...

Anyone else solved this problem? Your year-old Epson R3000 (or similar) printer does an automatic head cleaning before virtually every print job, no matter how small. It doesn't matter that nozzle checks were perfect before sending a print job; the printer likes to do a long, unnecessary, unrequested head cleaning.

I contacted Epson and they were of no help. I also tried downgrading the printer’s firmware (a suggested fix I read online), but again that didn't help.

Thank you in advance,

Mark

My r2000 does the same thing - I've found no way to correct it.

Update – I downgraded the firmware (again) to the 2011 version but this time I also reset all printer defaults via the control panel. So far, about 15 print jobs with no auto-cleanings interrupting. Fingers crossed ….

I leave my office printer ON all the time, in sleep mode. I found it did less cleaning that way.
