Mission San Miguel - new sepia webpage photo

Mission San Miguel - new sepia webpage photo

2002-03-20 by Paul Roark

I just thought I'd mention that I placed a new photo on my main photo
webpage (below). It is a shot I took at the San Miguel Mission on my way to
the Bay Area meeting of forum members.

Very nice meeting, complete with photo ops on the way.

The image was printed with the MIS VM-Sepia inkset, using a fine-tuned
"Light Sepia" curve for the 3000. (It is a modified "cool" curve.)

A 16x20 version of the image now hangs in my office. I like this new
inkset.

MIS VM-Sepia to Neutral.

Paul, on your web site you mention that VM-Sepia covers Sepia to
neutral. Could you describe the neutral?

TIA,

Jerry.

Paul,

A beautiful rendition. Stunning light and atmosphere. Well done
indeed!

A question if I may? How does the inkset you used behave using Piezo?
Could I use Piezo for neutral prints and your curves for
alternatives? I currently have only a 3000.

Paul,

That is a beautiful image. And only enhanced by the wonderful
tonality of the sepia inkset.

I am interested trying out the new sepia mix but am a bit
confused as to how to go about beginning.

I am using the VM hex set (CIS) with a 1280 on a Mac. My 4oz.
bottles are about half full.

I understand that I need to call MIS and ask for the sepia as it's
not on the website.

Is it a full 6 ink package? (Will I be replacing all inks currently
used for VM printing)

Or do I want only the black for sepia? Can I use the curves
presently available for the Mac 1280 VM set?

Thanks and sorry if this new workflow has been described
previously. Bits and pieces seem to be scattered over the past
several weeks.

Della,

I e-mail the information sheet and curves for the printer and computer (PC
or Mac) as requested. The information sheet explains how the variable-tone
system works and has the settings for the particular printer/platform in
question, among other things.

Paul

Why? Wouldn't it be easier for you to post it on your

RE: [Digital BW] Re: Mission San Miguel - new sepia webpage photo

2002-03-23 by Paul Roark

Della,

MIS has the curves and workflows on their website already. So, all I really
do with e-mail is respond with pre-packaged letters to those who come to me
instead. (Also I'm running out of free space on my website, and I'm too
cheap to buy more and too lazy to learn much more than the most basic html.)

Paul,

Why? Wouldn't it be easier for you to post it on your
website? You have a nice website already.
