Hi,
According to me, there are only two possibilities:
- Wrapping all the frames very carefully, individually, and also the
whole package with bubble-plastic (don't know the exact word in
English).
- Sending the frames and prints separately, and having it framed at the
spot. In this way you avoid the prints being damaged by broken frames.
Good luck with the exhibition!

I have a upcoming exhibit of my inkjet photographs (done with MIS VM and
Paul's curves) and am I'm working now to get a dozen matted and framed.
However, I've never done a show out of town before and have no
experience
with shipping framed prints around the country. What tricks - ideas, do
people on the list have for packaging framed prints to be shipped? I'm
very
happy that I've been ask to exhibit, but am a bit worried about things
arriving in one piece. Any opinions - help - feedback would be most
appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

I've had pretty good success using UPS for shipping
large framed prints. Definitely use plexi instead of
glass and pay special attention to the corners of the
frame, this is where most damage occurs. I usually go
to MailBoxes Etc and have them wrap it up and specify
to pack it in something that will be able to be used
on the return trip(if needed). They mainly use a box
somewhat larger than the frame and wrap the frame in
large bubble-wrap w/ extra padding in the corners.
I would do it myself more often, but I usually wait
'till the last second and have to end up shipping it
over-night. Which, by the way, can be extremely
expensive. If you have the time, ship regular
ground.. it will reduce your shipping costs
dramatically.

 good luck,

I have shipped framed pieces using a wooden crate and UPS all over
the US. I am lucky to have a framer that makes inexpensive plywood
crates and we just bubble pack it in. Never had any problems, but I
use acrylic instead of glass on pieces that have glazing. For larger
pieces than 30 x 40...there are several trucking firms that take big
items for museum shows...etc. Burlington Northern comes to mind as
one.
