Yes.

This is the lightest gray ink, in the magenta position. It is about 38% --
about the same as the Piezo magenta position ink, but darker than the MIS
25% or Piezo yellow position ink.

Yes. This is the dark gray ink, in the cyan position. It's about the same
as the Piezo cyan (low 80's; MIS standard quad 75% is much darker than 75%
and a different ink).

Yes, this is the toner, in the yellow position. It actually has about the
same g/s reflective luminance as the light gray, magenta-position ink.

So, the order of your inks sounds right. However, the magenta position
should be close to the toner. It may look just a little lighter, but not
much.

I have heard of partial blocks that could affect the print tones and yet
give a reasonable-looking nozzle check. What can happen, apparently, is
that a little screen in the head (the last chance to catch junk before it
gets to the nozzles) can become partially clogged. Although the lighter
tones might be affected most, it could affect the image anywhere.

Paul, I noticed you say to use the photoshop 5.5 defaults with photoshop 6. I haven't been doing this, as
There are no photoshop 5.5 defaults to choose in the color settings windows. Where is this chosen?

Don't trust me on the relative density of the inks: I was working from
memory since I don't have the nozzle check sheet in front of me. At least
it seems the right inks are in the right places.

The nozzle checks are not just reasonable but perfect: every bar in each
panel is continuous and solid, with no thin spots or spatters. Every other
time I've had clogged nozzles, the first symptom was microbanding: when I
first filled and installed the MIS VM cartridges, for example, the black
panel had _one_ clogged nozzle, but that was enough to create a perceptible
thin white line in dark areas of the print. I'm pretty sure the nozzles are
_not_ one of my problems (yet).

I'll let you know tomorrow what happens in response to the readjustment in
color spaces. Thanks again.
