Adding ink to a CFS...?

Adding ink to a CFS...?

2002-06-16 by lyonscox

I am about to ad ink for the first time to the CFS on my 1270.
Was wondering if it will make any difference on how I do that?

Thought about leaving the jar that has the tube sucking from it now
in place and carefully pouring the new ink into that jar...

OR

Removing the tube and cap from the jar in place, pouring what ink
remains into the new jar and putting tube and cap on New jar.

Little tiny conservative part of me (;-) is concerned that I'll lose
some vacuumy thing going on with the tube that's already sucking ink
from the jar in place!?

Thanks,
Cleavis

Cleavis,
I use a large syringe to squirt ink carefully into the ink bottles, leaving
the caps in place so far as is possible. Definitely don't let the end of the
tubing come out of the ink reservoir or you will lose the vacuum. After my
first time I don't let the ink get too low before refilling.

After one or two refills you might want to consider replacing the carts to
rejuvenate your CIS.
Good luck,
Peter

Looks like from the FAQ at MIS it can be done either way...
http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/cobrafaq.html

"How do I fill the reservoir bottles ?

When the CFS reservoir bottles reach the refill point, simply remove
the top from the bottle and pour in more ink. Alternatively, keep a
spare 4 oz set of inks handy and when you get low, just unscrew the
cap and slide a new bottle in place of the empty one."
