Hello all, I am a bit confused on ink issues here, and perhaps somebody can give a bit of advice. I just took the plunge and purchased the imageprint rip for my 9500 running indellible inks, and just purchased a 7000 to run hextones with the same rip. I'm trying to decide what kind of ink I want to put in the 7000, and am curious to know if anyone has run the MIS VM inkset through the imageprint rip. TIA Tony

Tony, You might want to contact ColorByte directly as to where they are in supporting the MIS VM inkset. Note that Epson driver controls (Photoshop curves) for MIS VM on the 7000 also are available. Having multiple workflows never hurts. I think ColorByte is working on a RIP for the MIS VM inkset, and MIS, at my suggestion, may have suggested that the VM-S inkset is even more flexible -- going from neutral to sepia. The gray inks in the vm-s inkset are the same as the FS-N inks. As such, they are "non-warming" (depends on the paper). Thus, you'd have the non-warming neutral (actually to 0.02 units cool in the midtones) capability as FS-N, but with a variability all the way to sepia in the warm direction. Hi Paul, I talked to colorbyte. Irene (I think that is her name) said that imageprint does support VM-S. I really want cool inks, and all I have running right now is an 1160 with FS. It pirnts neutral on art papers for the most part, but warm on glossy, and some of my clients prefer neutral or cool on glossy. I was considering FS-N in my 7000, but wasn't sure if it can use the same profiles as the FS with imageprint. What also kind of bugs is the fact that imageprint seems to use (like cone) only quad, not hextones, so the extra two inks would be doubled up, which means that I can't use my 7000 with the epson driver if I want. And if I use VM inks in the 7000, then, I am not sure if I can use it with the imageprint rip. It appears to be an either-or situation, and I want to get the most out of the 7000. Of course, I could be misunderstanding the whole situation, so if I have stated anything wrong above, somebody set me straight please. best, Tony --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@y..., "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@v...> wrote: > Tony, > > You might want to contact ColorByte directly as to where they are in > supporting the MIS VM inkset. The imageprint profiles for the 7000 that are available today only support the FS inkset...not the FS-N's. Colorbyte is profiling the FS-N's as I write...they should be available in the next week or so...as with the profiles for the Piezotones which are not as warm as the MIS FS inks after the MIS inks have warmed. I have the most current version of the Imageprint software for the mac and it does not support the MIS VM's...however the Windows version is further ahead and may support them now...I don't know. Thanks for the info, Robert. I was unable to get completion date on the profiles from them. I think I'll just sit here and not make a decision on the ink for a week or two yet. ugh. Time to focus on color pictures for a little while.
