Richard,
I remember Paul Roark's posts in the past about the same issue: banding with
piezo, no banding with Epson driver. He made tests on step-wedges, but
obviously the same results can be seen in real images, especially in smooth
areas.

Speaking of the Randall workflow I too have found it to work quite
nicely with my 1160 and FS inks. I also happen to own the Peizo
driver and tried printing the same images (without the Randall curves)
but always get banding. I thought banding was a physical printer head
issue, why would the same image print smooth and fine with the Randall
workflow (using Epson's drivers) yet have fairly obvious banding using
the Peizo driver? I followed the Peizo workflow to a "T". Any
suggestions? Anyone else run into this as well?

Best regards,
Richard

Thanks for the reply Alessandro, but I have heard the good results can
come from FS inks with the Peizo driver and the 1160. Yet, all I try
have that banding. I've also heard that depending on the image
sometimes Randall workflow is best, sometimes Peizo is best. I'd like
to be able to accurately compare the two yet all the Peizo prints I do
are banded. I'd also like to believe I did not waste money on the
Peizo drivers when Epson drivers and FS inks would have been
"better"(!)

 Richard

What printer are you using. The 1200 is prone to banding with Piezo. I print
with a 1280 no banding in sigh even under magnification

Mahesi,

I had the same experience you did. I was never able to totally get rid of
the banding on the 1200 with the Piezo driver. I switched to a 1280 and
everything has been fine with both the Epson and the Piezo driver.

I think that the Piezo driver in general is more susceptible to banding than
the Epson driver which use a microweave pattern. Perhaps with the newer
printers, which I believe have more nozzles than some of the older models,
this is not such an issue.
