7000 banding problem

7000 banding problem

2002-07-30 by Bill Giffen

I have tried to find info on banding problems that I am having but have not
been successful. I have a 7000 with MIS FS inks and imageprint rip. I just
starting getting these using current setup. Today did a print on photorag
and had banding, did to cleaning cycles and used EAM and looked good. Went
back to photorag and back came the bands. They are very slight but I can see
them. At 8x it looks as if one of the inks is not squirting. These are
horizontal bands. My studio is 90deg plus with high humidity ( only use ac
when I am working)so that might be a cause.? Thanks for any help.

Bill,

have you saved the thickness of your PhotoRag as one of the paper pre-sets?
Unless it's the thin one, it will be radically heavier than EAM and could be a
cause for misalignment of sorts.

I've heard of issues with high temp/humidity, and I wonder if you have tested
specifically for that (i.e. tested if a/c makes a difference).

And, you are sure, air in the lines is not a possibility?

Is it always the same ink?

Have you tried the heavier "mainenance" cleanings?

For lots and lots of info specific to the 7000, got to the Epson 9000 list:

Hope it goes away! (like mine did with the Piezotones).

I'm with Antonis...sounds like a paper thickness issue to me...at least if
the Photorag was the 308gm. I run the 188gm PR and EAM with the same paper
setting and don't have a problem...but if I switch to a 300+gm paper and try
to use the EAM setting...I get banding.
