The new version of Minolta scanning software has been
available for free download on the

  http://www.minoltaeurope.com

site for a week now, but I hadn't noticed it appearing on the USA
site. This is a great, and much needed, improvement for the
Minolta Multi Pro 4800dpi scanner. It adds new manual
exposure controls and seems to scan color and b+w negatives
vastly better than the original version. Histograms are no longer
clipped and grain aliasing seems to be history.

It is designed for all Minolta scanners. It looks like I can stop
using Vuescan, but I have not really put the software through a
  series of tests yet.

Hallo Fellows,

I have got many E-Mails how to find it.

Go http://www.minolta.com
Then choose Europe on the map.

Then:
Choose Software (to the left)-->Choose Digital Photography (besides
the pics.)--> press German *or* U.K flag-->Choose Software (besides
the pics)--->Agree to license---> Choose the product!

I hope I didn't miss anything here?

The mambers are lyric about this software - it's totaly rewritten!
Odd - but true - Minolta do renumber this software from the begining
again. The new sofware have version nomber 1.0.0
Explaned by MINOLTA - "it's totaly rewritten".
And I can assure you all - this is like getting a new scanner!

Good luck!

I have been waiting and waiting to decide on a MF scanner and would really
like to hear veteran MultiPro users opinions on this new software. The grain
aliasing was one of the biggest complaints and if it has been reduced to
match that of the LS-8000 then I might just jump on the Minolta. Obviously
I'd also like to hear opinions specifically on the B&W scanning capabilities.

Bo, I seem to remember you created a mailing list for Multi Pro users. Can
you remind me where it is so I can lurk for a while to see user reaction to
the new software?

Thanks,

Tony, You can find the multipro users group on Yahoo at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/multipro/?yguid=39910003

If that doesn't get you there, delete some off the end of the link.

Bo has become my favorite Viking with all his efforts to get
Multipro Minolta support. Minolta tuned into his Multipro
complaint and wish-list website (find it via the multipro list) and
seemingly responded with a better product for free.

Re: [Digital BW] New software for Minolta scanners/ Here!!!

Hallo,

Regarding Minolta Multi Pro.

Lyrics are going on in our group. I do agree!
I'm just sitting here evaluating the old "drawbacklist"
that was sent to MINOLTA. And I'm a tuff Viking not letting
anything go throght my fingers that are not good.

MINOLTA totaly rewrote their software!
So far they went - they started to renumber this version to Ver.
1.0.0!

Wow- so far - I never thought I would be able to say this:

*Now* I do certainly recomend this scanner! Basta!

I don't believe what I see! Sad to say, I don't need VueScan
anylonger! In our group all seems to agree - "what a party"!

Our struggle and contacts with MINOLTA seems to have given us what
now makes our scanner something to be proud of!

Now in par with my Hasselblad - indeed! No longer a weakest link.

Thank You MINOLTA for listening!
You needed this for Photokina! We needed it to be happy!

We are now all happy for that new software, that proved this scanner
was worth this new software.

This scanner is now just sitting in the front seat.

I'm really happy I didn't sell it!

But remember it's a scanner - not a drum scanner, but don't hesitate
to compare the differences with a drumscanner. 4800 ppi for for 35 mm.
Test give us downsampling from 4800 dpi to 4000 dpi on a MF neg is
better that a scan upsampled from 3200 ppi to 4000. Etc etc.
Dmax etc all the way without almost any "yellow noice pixalating".
Good DOF - not necessary for a totaly flat film, sharp out to the
corners.

Huh...I must stop here..! As being one of the fighter for this
software I must say - they did over my expectation.

Now I have piece! I love it!

Soory if I was moved by this new software, I seldome am.
Just test that scanner - make your own opinion!

But Minolta - why did you not do it from the beginning?

Fiat Lux!

Some users of Windows 2000 that changes from the old to the new one
have reported that some old "driver" is left and gets the same
results.
If you encounter this I suggest that you do a global search for all
routines mensiond in the end of the manual and delete them before
installing the new software!
Also follow the old rule not to have any program in the background
running when installing the new software.

Read the manual and you find the new things there. The quality of
scanns tells you the rest. They are indeed better than before.
The "gritti noise" or grain aliasing is almost gone! Hi mark here!
Colours are better etc and it's faaast!

Re: [Digital BW] New software for Minolta scanners

It is possible that the focusing algorithms have been changed to slightly defocus the image and therefore reduce the grainy appearance, or are the scans as sharp as one would expect from the scanner and the software really is working better?

Hallo,

We don't know what is done - but both sharpnes and resolution are
kept and are great! Colour better etc.
Did they have an sharpening algorithm buid in earler, that could not
be switched off combined with bad algorithms? I don't care - I do
really like that soft/scanner now - better in many aspects over
VueScan!

Listening to MINOLTA the software is totaly rewritten though most of
the human interface looks the some. Some tings are added!

Fiat Lux!

It states version 1.0.0? Was: New software for Minolta scanners

2002-09-16 by wooismyid

Huh? I checked both Europe and U.S. Minolta sites. Every
download option points to "DiMAGE Scan Ver. 1.0.0"-- the latest
version available (which has been out for quite some time) is
version 1.0.2, available for download on the U.S. site.

I must be missing something here-- I can't mention of this
updated software anywhere else. I'm using the DiMage Scan
Multi Pro 4800 dpi.

Odd indeed! Yes!
