I'm running a 1280. I've been using the Selenium carts, great results, using the Piezo plug in, but the cost is killing me. I ordered a CIS with MIS Full Spectrum Neutral w/generations black. Any up front pointers? Will I see similar results with the plug-in or should I learn this curves stuff? :-) Thanks for any info!!! Treadwinkle

The hextone MIS FS-N inkset (which really is a quadtone inkset where C=Pc and M=Pm) will not work with the Epson driver. The Epson driver expects lighter shades of Pc and Pm. MIS sells the FS-E inkset that works with the Epson driver. You can use the Woolf lumped (non- partitioned)workflow or can try the 1270 RGB Partitioned workflow I developed as a starting point (see Files|Ink Sets|MIS|MIS FS). Good Luck. Treadwinkle (what a great name!), If you are using the Piezo driver, the MIS FS-N inks should work seamlessly, or alomst so. You need to worry about FS-E inks (or other workflows) only if you plan to use the Epson driver. Make sure the inks are in the right positions for the driver of your choice. Good luck. I just ordered my new Epson 1280 ($313 after the $100 Epson rebate). Since it is new, it will never see color carts. I am dedicating it to B/W from the very start. Now the question is....what do I do next? MIS inks, Piezotones? Plugins? Workflows? I have just started to get, what I consider, quite nice B/W output from my C80 using the "Russell Brown Tonal Conversion Technique" using EEM and Epson Velvet Fine Art, but I want a bigger output. http://www.russellbrown.com/tips/photoshop.html I don't know how this stacks up against others, but it works for me and makes sense to me, unlike some others. Maybe that is why it works for me. Jerry in Houston [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
