Does anyone know if this is a re-branded version of the Epson Ultrasmooth Fine Art paper we have been waiting for? http://www.wmpaulstore.com/primpr.html Carl

However, the UltraSmooth paper has not been released yet. Furthermore, the sizes that are apparently for sale at the above site are not Epson sizes. So, beware. This is probably not the real thing. Epson Pro Media head says end of August is now the release date. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I thought the "PremierArt™ UltraSmooth Fine Art" and Epson's UltraSmooth ar= e the same paper?, as what seems to be indictated in Wilhem's test update http://www.wilhelm-research.com/ep9600%20print%20permanence.html#table (see note #6 on the bottom) Take a look at the pdf on the Premier site: http://www.premierimagingproducts.com/media/index.html (looks like UtraSmooth sizes?) From Royce Bair on the Epson Wide Format group: 1. "A. Remember when Epson first introduced their Smooth and Texture Fine Art papers, and mentioned that they were made by Crane? And also Epson's own "Somerset Velvet" (similar to Legion's Somerset Photo Enhanced). Need I say more? I'll just say that InkjetART will be carrying BOTH the Epson UltraSmooth Fine Art and the PremierArt paper (Henry W. made a slip here, it will be called just "PremierArt", and not "PremierArt UltraSmooth"). Our stocks of PremierArt should arrive within two weeks (the 250 g/m2 and the 325 g/m2 -- 500 g/m2 are being delayed). --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@v...> wrote:

The impression I got from Epson was that PremierArt UltraSmooth was (or was the same as) Epson's UltraSmooth. When I told the Epson Pro Media head the roll size that is listed in the William Paul & Associates web page, he said that was not an Epson roll size. Also, the W. Paul site where the papers are listed does not use the UltraSmooth name. Of course, if PremierArt has a source that is independent of Epson, it could be the same paper, but in different sizes. I wonder who has the "UltraSmooth" trade mark. I assumed it was Epson. The way Royce Bair talks, it sounds like maybe PremierArt should not be using that name. Note also that PremierArt spray and the new Wilhelm test data. I've thought that a spray that was matched to the paper coating might be able to seal the pigments better. I'm hopeful that someone has really done a good engineering job here. On the other hand, in the past, the claim has been made that InkJetArt Museum is essentially the same as UltraSmooth. My tests of Museum indicate it has one of the worst-flaking surfaces out there, as opposed to UltraSmooth's virtually non-flaking surface. Very confusing. However, I do hope that there is an independent source for UltraSmooth. Competition never hurts. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com ________________________________________

The PremierArt spray looks very promising on Wilhem's test. Also on PremierArt's UltraSmooth PDF it says: "500g Double Sided - Sold exclusively through Epson America Inc and their dealers"

Premier is no longer using the name UltraSmooth Fine Art. Their paper is n= ow called PremierArt "Hot Press" Fine Art. They revised the pdf paper description f= ile and removed all references to the UltraSmooth name and to Epson. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@v...> wrote: > The impression I got from Epson was that PremierArt UltraSmooth was (or w= as > the same as) Epson's UltraSmooth.
