A little extra air in the system never hurts - in fact it often helps. Get
some latex gloves if you want to protect your fingers from ink, & slowly
work the tube off the cart. You may want to wrap a towell around your hand &
cart to catch potential ink spray when it disengages.

I'd re-attach the tube(s) empty if you do succeed in cleaning it. The little
bit of air in the tube won't hurt & you will have the added benefit of
seeing if the system is working by watching the ink advance through the
tube.

Personally, I don't think this effort is worth it, & would just replace the
cart, tube & ink (Eboni).

The Eboni is the best pigment black MIS ever sold. I use it with my FSN
Piezo & Perpetual Color setups.

If you cut the tube right off at the cart nipple first it will have
much lower hoop stiffness and comes right off with no effort (or
spatter).

IF someone is willing to state that the eboni will work just as well
with new Roark UT curves on a 1160 I'd switch next time...
