I can't get QTRgui to work on my computer. It opens up with all of the fields blank-- there is nothing in the pull down menus. Sean -- Fine Art Black & White Photography http://www.sbphoto.net

This is caused by an installation problem. You must first use the QuadToneRIP batch files to install QuadToneRIP. Then you must copy QTRgui.exe to the same folder that contains imagetoraster.exe and quadtoprinter.exe. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

I have posted a new version of QTRgui at www.sbillard.org\Shareware\QTRgui.htm. This version fixes a few obscure bugs and adds a help file and help hints. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

If I could offer one suggestion: I would love to see QTRgui allow you to select the dithering method. I went back to the batch files because that lets me select "eventone" dithering, while QTRgui (and the original Harrington batch files) set the dither to "ordered". Ciao! Joe

I wasn't aware that QuadToneRIP supported a dithering method. There is no Dithering in my 2200 batch file. What printer are you using? How is dithering setup in the batch file? Once I understand how it is done, I can add it. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Hi Stephen and Joe, Gimp-print does support a few different dithering algorithms. The main two that I've used are "Ordered" which I've made the default and "Adaptive Hybrid" that was the original default. There is an "Eventone" but I don't believe that this is actually implemented in this gimp-print version. In general I have seen little difference between Ordered and Adaptive except that Ordered runs faster. But its certainly possible that someone else might find an image that shows a difference. The option is selected by stpDither=Ordered or stpDither=Adaptive that you'll see in the quadtoneprint.bat file. There needs to be a way to tell QuadToPrinter to do the dither. None of the batch files I looked at provide a way. Maybe Roy can shed some light on this. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

There is a new version (0.23) posted now: www.sbillard.org\Shareware\QTRgui.htm This version adds the dithering option that was the subject of a thread on this forum. It also resolves a problem with displays set to 120dpi and gets rid of the DOS window that used to come up when QuadToneRIP was processing. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Version 0.24 is now available at www.sbillard.org/Shareware/QTRgui.htm. This version cleans up some international handling of decimal numbers. It also adds the ability to save and re-load your favorite curve settings. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
