Paper selection on Epson 2200 HELP

2004-11-30 by bfwoolner

What happened to my paper selections? The dialog box only allows choices of
plain paper, enhanced matte, velvet fine art and radiant white.
It's been so long since I've printed on anything other than EEM I'm shocked
and confused now that I'm trying out the Costco glossy.

Any ideas, anyone? Is there another setting I need to change to view all
the paper choices? Thanks for any and all help.

Hi,
Sounds like you have the MK (matt) black cartridge installed. You have to change it to the PK (photo)
black cartridge and then the gloss paper choices will be seen in the selections.

What cartridge is in the K slot - probably just MK. In this case, just matt
papers appear in the menu. Put in a PK cartridge and then see what the list
is - you will see glossy options.

Did you change inks to the Photo Black? You need to do that. Then some
magical incantations to get the printer to recognise it.

Best way I've founds is change inks, pull up a file in photoshop then go
into the dialogue and if the paper choices haven't changed tell it to print
using EAM/EEM paper at 1440. When you try to do that and back out of the
dialogue it will tell you it can't print with those settings and paper. But
when you then go back and look, the paper choices will have changed
(hopefully).

i you get as far as it printing, just make sure there is no paper in he
printer and then just cancel the print...

If you are using a Mac, then after changing the black cart to pK, you
may need to reinstall the printer for the change to take effect. You
will know if after the cart change, the glossy papers are still not
listed. To overcome having to do this every time you change carts
then try this. With your present setup, change the name of your
printer to say SP2200matte, then change the black cart to pK and then
install printer again, calling it say SP2200photo. You will then have
the same printer installed twice, one for using mK and one pK.

This works for me.

Of course I do. Feeling dumb but grateful for the response.

Thanks.
