Canon 9950F scanner

Canon 9950F scanner

2005-01-21 by David Keenan

Any experiences out there with the CanoScan 9950F scanner with 35mm film?

I've got one unopened in a box and I'm not sure I want to open or return it to the store.

I wonder how it might compare with the as-of-yet unseen Epson 4990.

David,

You might want to read the Canon 9950F review at www.photo-i.co.uk and
also the photo-i forums.

Beware.

I had one last year for ten days. It won't always scan the negatives on a
sheet and will miss frames, it'll have colour casts all over the place and
the software is rubbish. Canon's standard reply was 'not a problem we've
heard of', then you look around and see others the same. I returned it and
bought the Epson 4870. Best of all, the Epson runs on Vuescan.

Canon make brilliant cameras, but that scanner's a lemon IMO.
