7600 & 4000 UC MK dmax

7600 & 4000 UC MK dmax

2005-02-04 by Paul Roark

I'm seeing very different dmax readings for the 7600 and 4000 printers using
UltraChrome Matte Black and EEM paper. I'm not sure where the variance is
coming from. Some printers can only hit about 1.6, while others are
printing huge 1.7+ dmaxs on EEM.

Have others seen this?

Does anyone have any ideas what the factors are that are causing these
variances?

EEM seems to be the paper where I see the largest (maybe only)
differentials. So, near the top of my list is that EEM has some very
different batches out there.

I have not seen these types of variances with other printers, however.

Has anyone noticed a change in the dmax of EEM paper batches in the last 6
months?

Thanks.

Paul

Paul,

Yes, last year I was getting about 1.65 - 1.67 with MK on EEM. Latest
profiles I made for EEM (4000) are 1.72 - 1.74.

Yes,

I have seen variation even within the same batch with eem and hprag,
BO gave me the most consistent results on the 4000. I have settled
for now with the epson luster and psemimatte, which has been
consistent.

Re: 7600 & 4000 UC MK dmax

I have been getting between 1.73 & 1.75 on EEM with my 4000 and UC
inks. This density holds pretty constant on various size sheets,
even on paper I purchased a year ago. Surprising, but nice....
