Thanks, Paul! I went by my local CompUSA this morning expecting all the 
scrapbook paper to be gone, but Eureka!, I managed to score 10 packages. 
Only 10 sheets per package, but at 98 cents for ten sheets, well worth 
while.
I'm looking forward to trying out your curve.

Since Scrapbook paper seems to be a bargain, I've put a curve on my website
at http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/C86-curves.html that gets a near perfect
print out of my C86.  I don't have slider settings that work well.  Gamma
2.2 with the sliders at neutral 0 is OK except that the deep shadow contrast
is not very good.  So, this monotone curve applied to a grayscale file
should do the trick.

I have also added a note about the possible microbanding if the file is not
at 360 (or 720, which I consider overkill).  (Thanks Jeff.)
