So I've loaded up the PK into the C86 and am printing
on the Kirkland paper (bought from MIS, so I don't know
what "version" of the paper this is).  Ilford Smooth Pearl is
in the bullpen.

Question first. I like a "warmish" tone on my matte prints.
For matte, I use MK, EZN cyan, and EZW majenta and
yellow.

Just switching to PK, the glossy prints look more warm/brown
than my matte prints. After drying and spraying with PrintShield,
the blacks firm up a bit, but still a little too warm for my tastes.
Other than this, the prints look really fantastic.

Any suggestions on a EZW/EZN set to match to "somewhat
warmish" prints I get on matte paper (EEM for the sake of
argument)?

Now a comment.  I've been experimenting with QTR and
the UC inks in my new 2200. All matte papers: EEM, lately
some early experiments with Kayenta and Premier Premium
(much whiter papers than EEM and the resulting print generally
much "grainier" looking in the highlights than EEM).

I know there are alot of options to explore, but *so far*, the little
C86 and EZ inks setup just kicks the crap out of anything I've
managed to produce with QTR + the UC inks.

Pauls straightforward documentation on suggested driver settings
for different papers are clear, easy to follow and generally work
pretty darn well right out of the box.

I've paid up recently on QTR (a heavy burden lifted from my shoulders),
and I'm going to keep trying.  Although I'm curious to what lengths I'll
have to go to get good results.

Will I have to learn to create my own profiles? Will I have to switch to
an MIS inkset and abandon the color print capabilities with the UC inks?

Dunno.  I can say that a (1) central online library of profiles for common
ink sets + paper combos and (2) some guidance on the various sliders in
QTRGui (ink limit, etc.) might well go a long way to making for a better
QTR "out of the box experience."

In the meantime, many thanks and kudos to Paul for his wonderful,
EZ and inexpensive C86 based setup.
