All Help please I am having problems when trying to make digital negatives on an Epson 2200 printer. I am using the Pictorico 2200 film. The little rollers and pizza wheels on the Epson 2200 printer rub the ink right off the negative. What printer and paper settings should I be using? Is there a way to specify the ink density? Is there away to remove the printer rollers? Bruce

Sounds like your ink isn't drying quickly enough. I didn't have any trouble with that film and the 2200, even with matte black, but I have heard of others who have. You may try a Photo black if you are using Matte black. Secondly, experiment with your media settings in the Epson driver. LIke, try the glossy film setting or premium glossy setting to try to lay down less ink. Finally one of my students had this exact same problem and I told him to back off on the density of his file in Photoshop by making the deepest backs less dense in a curves adj layer. In other words, if your deepest backs are set on say 5, try placing that value on 10 or 15. That reduction of shadow density in the file did the job for him, He was using the 2200 with PK and printing out of rgb color space. With greyscale output I would assume a similar backing off the blacks could also help. John --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "brucercohio" < bruce.campbell@w...> wrote:

John Thanks for the recommendations. I may have solved the problem. I was trying to print out 4x5 size pieces of Pictorico versus 8 X 10 sizes, The inks were not drying fast enough and thus the rollers were rubbing the ink off. If you lift the cover and look down into the printer, you will see the top of the wheels and to the left and right side of each wheel the ends of the coil spring. Use a small nail or any pointed object, compress one end of the spring until you get it to comes out. Don't remove it, just let it lay there in the event in the future you want return the printer to its original condition. The wheel should now come off the paper or film. Release as many springs as you need for the width of the paper/film you are printing on. Hope this helps, John
