UT7 color change: Paul?

UT7 color change: Paul?

2005-10-28 by edrudolpho

This question is perhaps best answered by Paul, but all info is welcome.

I'm using UT7 with QTR on a 2200 and have been using up a supply of ink I've had for a
while. I just changed a number of carts (LC, LM and M) and replaced them with a shipment
I received a few weeks ago. Here's the problem: I'm not noticing a distinct reddish tone in
the prints, something I've not seen before. Is this something to do with the new base, and
is it recommended to reprofile for the new base?

Ed,

A reddish hue has nothing to do with the new base. It's more clear and
colorless than the old base. Hopefully there isn't a bad mix out there. If
you'd like to send me some samples, I'll check them with the
spectrophotometer.

Re: [Digital BW] UT7 color change: Paul?

2005-10-28 by edrudolpho

Hi again.... I've printed a couple of 100 step charts, one for the warm and one for the cool
QTR curves. The warm stepwedge looks normal to me but the cool (which uses K, M and
LM) has a peculiar violet cast to it. I'm going to write an email to MIS support.

Re: [Digital BW] UT7 color change: Problem solved

2005-10-29 by edrudolpho

Printing out the calibration chart revealed the culprit. The LM catridge, which in the UT7
inkset is bluish in tone, was reddish-brown. N(Not the same tone as the LC cart, but in
the same ballpark.) I found another LM cart and substituted it and found it had the correct
ink color in it. I've notified MIS.
