I sent Dry Creek three profile requests yesterday Tues. Nov 8th. I next day
mailed them at 5:30 PM from New Jersey. One for a Konica/Minolta 5430DL ,
another one for my Epson 9600 and a third for my Epson 4800. Today Wed Nov 9,
at 9:24 PM Ethan emailed the profiles for the 4800 and Konica printers with the
9600 promised for tomorrow, and as usual their pretty dead nuts on. Hope
this helps.

Thank you for using our custom profiling service. The Accent Vellum profile
for your 5430 DL and the luster profile for the 4800 are attached. The Velvet
paper requires measuring on a different, slower system. I will forward it along
when it is available -- should be tomorrow. Also included below is a color
gamut map comparing the mid-tone color range of your printer to Adobe RGB and
sRGB.

The usual comments about checking rendering intents apply - Relative
Colorimetric should be the best for most images, while shots with heavy shadow detail
or extensive saturated colors can benefit from Perceptual rendering. We
improved our profiling algorithms since the last time we built profiles for you.
Traditionally, the Saturation intent has either been mapped to the Perceptual
intent or reserved for printing business graphics such as PowerPoint slides where
primary colors are all that matter. Neither struck us as useful, so we built
our own. We tune the Saturation tonality to fall between Rel. Color. and
Perceptual, while biasing colors towards heightened saturation and clean primaries.
This works well for many images, particularly ones where you want some extra
punch. Saturation rendering may well, in fact, prove to be the most generally
useful for both your laser printer and the Velvet paper.

All this may sound complicated, but after reviewing a handful of images you
quickly get a feel for which rendering intent best complements the image
content.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us.

Regards,
Ethan Hansen

I find this disturbing....not because you got profiles, but because
I sent 2 targets to this person as well as paid with pay pal.

I always used Dry Creek photos site for learning about color and
respected the information gotten there.

I sent this over a month ago...have written him 5 times and I get no
response at all.

Does anyone have a valid contact information for this person?

This person is actually local to my home here in hillsboro, and I am
tempted to walk over an knock on their door. Unusual for
me....usually very easy to get along with...but no response can get
rather frustrating.

ANy tip would be appreciated.

Hi Roman...

Sounds like you are taking this all kind of personally. If he is in your neighborhood do go over. Get to know him. You'll probably get more than you paid for. Relax a bit.

LOL...um...taking it kind of personally?

Waiting a month to get my profiles an contacting this vendor after 2
weeks....than 3 weeks, than 4 weeks later finally taking issue with
the silence and no contact?

I actually find that pretty patient....

Im not calling him names.....never got out of line with any of my
letters to him....

Then I find that others are getting communication from him....and
their profiles.

I have good reason to less than pleased......and to see if after
googling his name to see that others.

In the fred miranda forum I have found several other people with the
same treatment today.

Interesting that you think that I am taking this personally. Not
personally like im insulted....just personally like somone took my
$100.00 and gave me nothing not even the decency of a
reply....especially in light of others getting their product and
replys.

He had the ability to answer my question before I paid my $100.00.

I have several print jobs I want to do and this is holding up my
work.....and its not just stuff for my wall....but customers.

I just wrote pay-pal with an offical complaint....I only have 45
days from purchase to register a complaint.....30 days has been more
than reasonable.

Re: [Digital BW] Re: Dry Creek Photo (hope someone can help)

2005-11-11 by Arthur Fink

E-mail is great when no emotion is involved. Sometimes, however, it just
inflames.

I'd go to the gym, get out my anger, then get on the phone and simply ask,
"What ever happened to my order ... something must have gone VERY wrong?".

Another opening line that often works for me in customer service situations
is, "I've got a problem, and I hope you can help".

Remember, the person answering the phone did not create the problem. Also,
most businesses don't want to ignore customers -- although that may be what
they've ended up doing.

It used to only be 30 days, I guess they got too many complaints about
the short time limit.
