MIS Spongeless Cart Plugs

Been lurking for several months and recently purchased an Epson C86 to try my hand at B&W printing. Have Canon i860 and i950 printers for day-to-day use; been refilling the Canon carts for a couple of years. Dye rather than pigment and no official refill hole in the carts. A #36 drill hole in the cart top tapped to accept a 6-32 Allen head set screw defines the fill hole. Since the set screw can be run in to be flush with the cart surface, a bit of masking tape assures an air-tight closure. Do not have the spongeless carts in hand yet, but the MIS illustration implies that a similar closure method can be employed. I assume the fill hole is too large for a 6-32 tap, but 10-32, 12-24, or larger taps and setscrews may very well be appropriate. The Canon carts have sponge between the "tank", if you will, and the ink output port. The sponge will block any junk entering the tank during tapping. Care must be taken when tapping an MIS cart to assure that nothing falls into the tank, (Have the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner sucking near where the cart is being tapped.)
