I have never seen the plugs available from MIS http://www.inksupply.com/cart.cfm?action=add&itemid=SLC-PLUG-outofstock I have seensearch postings of cometitive cartridge plugs and screws with "o" rings, but I'm a girl. You boys are supposed to tell me what might be a workable substitute. So ..... ?

Sticky tape and ask MIS nicely to add a couple of extra plugs in with your next order...

I am not unfamiliar with the function of sticky tape, however I noted Paul Roark referencing that he used tape in addition to the plugs. Thus I wonder if there is an internal pressure function in the cartridges which should or must be maintained and with out the solid sealing plugs, there would be two apertures which could inflow exterior air. MIS has the plugs unavailable for purchase, as per my URL, in the post, my impression was that they would not free up any separate plugs, if they are not going to sell them at this time. In earlier years (and particularly with CFS CIS units) this was apparently important. Also I note that the sticky tape that I did immediately put over the plug hole, as soon as the plug went down the drain, permitted ink to come out of the plug hole. Why would plugs, of various types, be used at all if tape would do the trick. Anyway, I was looking for alternatives until MIS could supply more plugs. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Steve Kale <stevekale@...> wrote: > > Sticky tape and ask MIS nicely to add a couple of extra plugs in with your > next order... > > > > From: elsieforman <elsieforman@...> > > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > > Date: Wed, 15 Feb 2006 09:44:01 -0000 > > To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > > Subject: [Digital BW] Suggestions for replacement plugs for MIS 2400 > > spongeless carts ? > > > > The Murphy's law came abbout. The problem if the reservoir plug does not seal is that the ink might just drain out into the bottom of the printer. > Why would plugs, of various types, be used at all if tape would do the > trick. Hopefully MIS will have extra plugs available soon. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

It's a reusable cork. The thing about tape is that it's not really that reusable. Seal the hole and you're done.

Elsie - Perhaps a dab of GE silicone bathroom caulk across the top of the hole? I have been lucky so far and haven't had to put it to the test, but its what I had planned to try when I finally do lose a plug. It seals well, but peels off fairly easily. Seems like I've also seen something about using the glue from a low-temperature hot glue gun. Good luck Robert --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "elsieforman" <elsieforman@...> wrote:
