HVLP sprayer help

HVLP sprayer help

2006-05-23 by jforney_54

Anybody out there using an HVLP sprayer?

I'm using a SATA MiniJet hooked up to nitrogen with ClearShield. Problem is, I'm getting
these little "globs" that dont seem to level out upon drydown. Any one know if this is caused
from overspraying, or too high of pressure, or too high volume of Clearshield, or something
else I'm overlooking?

This may be caused by one or more of the following conditions:
Clearshield is not properly diluted for spraying, the liquid may not
be adequately atomized by your minijet, your adjustment of liquid/air
flow, and probably spraying technique. You may want to spend several
pressurized cans with a certain amount of ClearShield to develop a
method that works for you.

Did you filter the liquid before putting it in the sprayer?

No. I stir it for maybe 30 seconds, then pour it into
the cup and start spraying.

You should be able to get strainers at a local auto parts store that sells
paint supplies. Straining is generally a mandatory process step with any
spraygun; exceptions are pre-strained products used without cutting.
Also, call up clearstar and find out the product shelf life, and how to
check it. While you are at it, ask them about the globs and what mesh size
they recommend for a strainer. Best luck to you.

I'll try that, thanks.
