Mediastreet cartridges

2007-07-16 by Jenny Ellerbe

Have any of you used Mediastreet funnel fill cartridges in a 4000? I
installed a set on my printer last Thursday and could not get the
printer to recognize all the carts at the same time. I contacted tech
support (through email, the only way to contact them) and spent about 8
hours Friday trying to get these to work. The best I ever got was 7
carts recognized although the matte black one never was. It either
said "Set Ink Cartridge" or occasionally it would see it but say it was
empty. Resetting the chip didn't help. I have wiggled every cart up
and down, left and right, raised and lowered the levers, turned the
printer on and off, unplugged it, cleaned the chips with alcohol (per
their instructions) etc. Mediastreet maintains there's nothing wrong
with the carts and refused to give me an RMA# to return them for a
refund. They did send me a new matte black cart which I received today
however it didn't solve the problem. If I remove the Mediastreet carts
and reinstall my piezo carts, the printer works perfectly. Any
suggestions on how to proceed?

Thanks,
Jenny Ellerbe

I had similar issues with the 10K cleaning carts. The chips are lower
then Epson carts, compare them, so they do not line up well. Had to
cut them off and reposition with hot glue.

Richard (Brooklyn)

They did send me a new matte black cart which I received today
owever it didn't solve the problem. If I remove the Mediastreet carts

Mark, you are exactly right. They are lower than the Epson chips. I
am not interested in repositioning the chips on the carts though to
make them work. They should work out of the box!

I went through this last December, you would think they had changed
cart suppliers by now. I had no choice, they were the only ones with
10K cleaning carts. Later I did find a way to turn off the chip
sensors completely, so I can use UC inks in a 10K.

Good luck then, I left them a less than polite message after
fruitless communications on 10K carts they delivered to me
17 months ago. They were aware of the problems before I got
my carts but didn't inform me. In my opinion the carts are
made in injection molds that have about the shape of the
original carts but the manufacturer didn't compensate in the
size the shrink plastics undergo after molding. 3 mm less on
the vertical height so the chip is misaligned as well.
Mediastreet advises "wiggling" but you don't wiggle 3 mm
away. Couldn't get them right so I removed the chips and put
them on Epson 10K carts. It would have been a lot cheaper if
they had send me the chips. The Epson carts are far better
constructed than the ones Mediastreet ships.

Met vriendelijke groeten, Ernst
