Experiences with MIS

2007-12-27 by lancscott

I placed and order with MIS several days before their shipping deadline
for the holidays and asked for confirmation that my order was recieved
and if they could tell me if it was shipped before they shut down for
the holidays. I have heard nothing. The ink is for a client's
project. The deadline is not for sometime, so I can wait a little. I
guess what I would like to know is if this kind of service in normal
for MIS. My other option would be to go with Piezography. Anyone know
if the Piezography people are better to deal with?

I assume you placed the order and request by email. With any business you're
much better off dealing by phone rather than by email, especially when time
is critical as it appears to be in your case and especially during the
Christmas season. I used MIS inks for many years. Their service was
excellent but I always called rather than hoping they'd separate my email
message from the massive amounts of spam most businesses receive every day.

Re: [Digital BW] Experiences with MIS

2007-12-27 by Richard Sintchak

I've used MIS from time to time a few years back and except for some curt
attitude sometimes on the phone (nothing like a New York attitude, more of a
basic unfriendly, "hurry up so I can get off the phone" sort of feeling)
liked their products and got good delivery. But then a few months ago I
went to the site to order some of their cheaper 3rd party 2200 carts (about
10-12 of them) and thought I'd get a couple of carts of Eboni black and Pro
Photo Black as well. Using the website (on items only of which were
indicated as "in stock") I placed my order. A week or so later my order
arrived and only the two carts of Eboni and Pro Photo Black were in there
with a sticker on the outside saying that all the other 12 carts I ordered
were not in stock. Now I would NEVER have placed my order and incurred the
shipping cost for only two ink carts. I was pissed off that no one
contacted me first to tell me that 85% of my ordered items were not in stock
and would not be shipped. I had to go back and forth with them by email and
they were not very cooperative nor understanding that I felt I should have
been contacted first before the order was simply shipped and my card charged
with only 15% of what I ordered being available. In the end, after like 3-4
emails exchanges, they begrudgingly told me they would credit back the
shipping charge towards my next order. I have not decided if there will be
a next order at this time. They did not indicate how I would do such later,
whether I needed to mention the previous order, whether it was on my account
or what....

B&H, Adorama and many others have ALWAYS contacted me first if anything in
my order is not in stock after having placed my order online, and always
checked to see if I still wanted the
remaining items. I think this is only proper and would expect as much
especially since the MIS website had the items as "In Stock" when I ordered.

I am fine with paying a shipping charge of $10 or more for an order of
$85 or so but not with a $9 or so charge for only two ink carts.
