Digital BW, The Print

I was wondering if anybody here has any experience with either Grubba Software's TrueGrain 
and/or DxO's FilmPack for replicating back & white film grain on digital captures. If you've 
used both, do you have a preference? TrueGrain retails for $300, FilmPack is $99. Thanks.

I briefly tried the film pack and have no experience with True Grain. AS I
recall it was ok, but since I already have the Imagenomic full set, I could
not see a reason to buy it. I have been a very happy Real Grain user for a
year ½.

I own the imagenomic and DxO products.  Both are high quality, but I  
prefer the former. I particularly like the de-focus or resolution- 
limiting function (fully adjustable) that can mimic that resolution of  
different film sizes.  With a particularly noisy image, adding grain  
and then setting the resolution to a number that mimics enlarged 35mm  
gives a nicely "realistic" -- i.e. film-like -- appearance.

I do *not* like the effect that either product has on tonal range when  
default film profiles are used. In my view they tend to produce  
shorter tonal ranges than scanned film would have.  As a result, I  
never use the presets except possibly for grain size and density.
