Can we order the Special edition Wasp filter direct?

Can we order the Special edition Wasp filter direct?

Not even sure which US distributors will even sell them, but I don't see the point in paying extra mark-up because the dealers here have their prices locked at last year's much higher exchange rates.

I'm sorry but the parts cannot be ordered from us directly. During the last months our channel of distribution has changed. We stock
only very small quantities here at our location (required for demonstration, workshops, exhibitions and so on). Most of the
manufactured modules are sent directly to our distributors. I'm sure that the A-124SE will be available soon in USA. They are
available since last week and it may take a time until they arrive in USA (or other countries).

And I'm surprised that the prices for our modules have been unchanged in USA during the last year because the exchange rate between
Euro and US$ has lowered from about 1.35 to 1.09 (i.e. about 20%) from August 2014 to August 2015. Indeed we increased the prices in
Euro for the modules by about 5-10% (depending upon the module) because of the higher purchase prices of the electronic parts. But
altogether the resulting prices should have decreased a bit. I'm only the technician and am not dealing with sales but that's a
simple calculation.

Best wishes

US dealers are charging $110 USD for the Wasp Filter which is ~101 euros. (Analogue Haven, Perfect Circuit, Detroit Modular, etc) A few even charge shipping and/or tax on top of that if your order isn't of a certain amount.

from Schneidersladen it's €96.43 SHIPPED!
(NO VAT for non-EU residents but 25 euros flat to ship).
But even without a tax break it's a deal if I order more than a single module.
Same goes for bus jumpers, patch cables, power cables, etc.

Escape from Noise in Sweden has similar pricing but cheaper shipping though less selection.
Technopolis in Canada has cheaper shipping than some of the domestics.

I realize prices can't fluctuate daily, but it is by far more cost effective to order even single modules internationally than through the US distributors.

To add insult to injury, I can get new modules sooner if i import them myself (A-110-4 Thru-zero VCO isn't even available at most of the US dealers yet)

Isn't there some kind of import tax though? If I buy from the U.S. I get stung for about 2-3% duty then 20% VAT when it gets to the UK. Oddly most U.S. Manufactured modules are cheaper for me to buy from Australia!!!! I have no idea why that is.

With the falling Euro the UK distributed of Doepfer EMIS has definitely got cheaper which is great - and always helpful when you call.

The biggest factors for most goods is whether it is personal or commercial, class of goods, how you import it and what the dollar amount is.

As a flight passenger, you get $800 per month of tax-exempt goods for personal use. Many countries including Germany refund VAT at the airport if you purchase goods over a certain amount.

For shipping goods, it gets more convoluted but generally there is no import taxes for moderate orders (non-commercial):

Some shippers (UPS) send everything through a broker and you pay those fees even if it has no import taxes. (I got charged brokerage fees for importing original art from a college student though that class of goods is exempt.

In short retailers, pay more taxes than an individual who often does not even have them.

In the UK there is no difference if you are ordering as a company or an individual (though a VAT registered company may be entitled to a refund of VAT). We can only import a very low value without duty / VAT being payable. Within Europe we pay VAT at the point of origin but no duty on an import.

yeah, what is up with those "brokers" anyway? twice within the last year i've shipped gear by ups from the us to the uk (modules to a fellow group member, and a 727 as a xmas present for Ceephax) and both times we got stung both by extra (and supposedly unnecessary) fees as well as repeated delivery snafus (the 727 was especially trying; after over a week of failed delivery attempts Andy finally had to go to the ups office and get it in person!)
(and sorry yet again for going a bit tangentially off-group-focus, but i've only just discovered this "uk shipping broker middlemen" thing and am all "wtf?!"... ^_^ )
