Connecting the A-100 power cables to an A. Solutions module

Connecting the A-100 power cables to an A. Solutions module

2003-08-21 by levka0

Hi There
I just got a used AS SY02 filter (could not wait for Doepfer's own MS-
20 reincarnation ;)), and I am wondering how to connect it.
The AS site gives some advise; it appears that on the AS modules the
-12 V pin is located at the top side of the connector (in contrast
with doepfer's own modules); so it seems to me that AS should
connect "upside-down" compared to Doepfer.

Anybody here with a clue ?

regards
Joost

hi joost,
yes,the doepfer and a.sol. ribbon cables are the same,
AFAIK.the red stripe goes to the word"stripe" or to
-12volts.so,in most of the A.SOL. modules the ribbon
connector goes with the red stripe up.if you look at
the doepfer buss board and the SY02 pcb ,you will know
how to connect the ribbon cable.the ribbon cable goes
with the red stripe at the bottom in the doepfer
board!(stripe to -12volts.)

Thanks Bakis for this info
Sadly, the doepfer cable sockets do not fit into the AS module
sockets (too wide), so I will need to order an AS cable first

I will post again once I get it working

Joost

hi joost,
what?the sy02 should have a doepfer connector in it's
pcb.maybe you have got a sy02 with an Analogue Systems
socket.the doepfer connector is the default one for
A.SOL. modules.ask tom carpenter for this!if your used
sy02 has an ANALOGUE SYSTEMS socket, you will need an
"analogue systems to doepfer" converter cable.
bakis.

Re: Connecting the A-100 power cables to an A. Solutions module

Dear Bakis,
Thanks very much for this info !

I just invested an hour to create a temporary solution myself;

This SY02 module sounds great ! It has the typical distorted, dirty
MS sound (just compared it side by side to my MS-10). hats off to A.
Sol. !
I have been able to get close to this sound by using two A-121's and
a A-116 after the filters, but the flexibility of the SY02 (it has an
integrated VCA) makes it a very nice module.
Any way, I will buy Doepfer's 101 anyway when it gets available, but
I am not sure when it's due.

Regards
Joost
