I'm sorry if I haven't been paying attention, but do we all know that
you can do this from the VFX end of things by making sure on the MIDI
CONTROL page, you set XPOS=BOTH or XPOS=SEND, then changing the
transpose setting in the performance section?

e.g. To have a preset that layers a VFX sound with a tx7 sound:

Select the VFX sound you want to layer with.
DoubleClick another sound to make a layer. (flashing underline)
Set MIDI status on the first one you selected to LOCAL.
Set MIDI status on the second to MIDI
Set CHAN and PROG on the second voice to what you want to send to
   the tx7.
Change the transpose for the 2nd to what you need for the tx7 to
   match the VFX.

I do this all the time, except the module is a JV-1080 not a tx7.

[ My JV-1080 is usually set to receive on MIDI channel 1, and I have
my VFX set with the BASE channel = 15, SEND=TRACK (not BASE) -- so
when you select a vfx sound which by default gets MIDI STAT of BOTH,
it sends on channel 15, which the JV ignores. This seemed easier at
the time than getting the JV to respond to some other channel, yet I
don't get sounds out of the JV unless I specifically want them. ]
