Dennis,
There
are two boards below your keys with a connector in between. This connector used
to cause the well known problems before Ensoniq The fix is to
hard wire this connection, i.e. to bridge the connection by soldering in
some wires. As I said, you can see this in a series of pictures in the file
section.
And,
once you have your VFX open, you are likely to realize ;lots of dust
inside. Dust sometimes is so unfortunate to cause minimal currents flowing
where there are no currents expected to be flowing, finally causing similar
problems.
However, if your issue was coming up all at once it's most likely a
connector. Even if the 'keyboard fix' has already been done, which could be the
case with an SD1, it can still be the cable connectors between keyboard
modul and main modul or, in rare circumstances, a broken connection on one of
the boards (hard to find without know-how).
Before
you assume the worst case try the simple things first: clean the
connectors, clean the boards (alcohol and a tooth brush come in handy, also for
this task), check if the keyboard fix has been done: if not, fix
it.
If
your VFX happens to come to life again afterwards, send me some
choclates....
Regards,
Hans

keyboard not working properly.
Sounds like your VFX needs the keyboard fix or a thorough inside
cleaning... Look into the file section of the group to learn how to do
it.
Hans
I have a VFX-SD that is also
playing tones when you push the keys that are not correct. The machine was
turned on with something laying on the keys by accident. It has not worked
properly since. I gues this is a similar situation. Can someone help me
also.?

Subject: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] VFX WIGGS
OUT on GIG HELP
I was playin a banquet last weekend. Half way through
the first set
my VFX went crazy. This is happening more frequently
in the last
month. Usually I need to re-initialize, re-load and go.
This time it
was NO-GO. Randam tones and notes were sounding, and
keyboard
sometimes did not work. I plug the damn thing Monday and it
runs OK.
Does any body know why this is happening?
What needs to
be repaired?
Any help would be appreciated.
