Philip,
With reference to your note below, would you be willing to sell one of the
spare SCSI drives you have, and if so how much would you be looking for?
Regards,
Chris.

[Fairlight-CMI] For sale: Fairlight
18/04/2005 11:10 Series III MFX2 RACKMOUNT!
Please respond to
Fairlight-CMI
All,
I'm trying to slim down my equipment and I have decided to sell my
Series III (it's the Series II I always end up using anyway!).
I traded the system from Chris Ringham (a *very* knowledgeable
Fairlight owner of around 15 systems!) around three years ago.
I understand very, very few of these rackmount Series III's were made
- I've heard a figure of less than 20 and perhaps as low as 10, but I
have no other info.
The system comes complete with the VGA graphics adaptor - so any
multisync monitor can be used (I use an NEC 18" multisync LCD) and
displays in colour, MFX2 operator keyboard (the one with dual VFD
displays) and a Series III music keyboard.
Additionally, the system is equipped with one of the 32mb RAM cards
and the later wave form super card. I have a 9GB system drive in
enclosure - plus (I think) another three or four drives still in
anti-stat packing that I bought from Peter Wielk (although these have
never been tried, I was told by Peter they contain a number of sound
libraries) which could, if installed in an enclosure, be mounted on
the SCSI bus at the same time for serious storage.
Being an MFX2, this provides multi-track recording to disk - I've
never used this but some people love the sound of the D/A's so much
they're using it as a multi-track recorder.
I've never seen another rackmount Series III for sale so I think it's
fair to say this is a rare opportunity.
Any one interested, please reply off list. In the meantime,
Thanks for the bandwidth,
Philip
