Hi Joe : thanks for the fascinating post :) It has neither an IDC socket, or laptop style socket : it has some bare wires communing out of the back of the case (4 in total) which I assume are supposed to supply the power.(see photos) Thanks, Arron --- In Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups

Thanks to everyone who has responded to me. Another quick question, has anybody had any experience running running Rev 12? (this apparantly still allows CMI functionality?) Maybe this would help me avoid ripping out all of the electronics/ I'm guessing I'd still need Wave-super a

Hi Arron, > so ive put it on ebay so everyone get a fair crack, at a price Id be willing to accept. Well, it's tempting I can tell you. The internal switchmode supplies in those may have been a bit under spec. Does your one have an IDC (mains kettle plug) connector on the back, o

This is a response to Tony's question about "downgrading" an MFX3+ Regarding the conversion, I'd say it wouldn't be worth it, especially since it's an MFX3+ There virtually are no cards which are common to the series III except for the colour graphics card, and possibly the Turbo

Hi There George, That's some good advice from WT. If you unplug the mains connector (they're not that well protected inside) you can easily take off the right (from the front) cheek side panel and examine drive 1. Assuming the same thing is wrong with both, looking at the top of

George, congrats on the CMI IIX. What has happened is that the screw that holds the white disc in place has come loose. It needs to be tighten. I had to do it to mine as it was just a little too loose for the drive to grab the disc properly to rotate it. It seems that your drives

OK, so when you say VGA video card, you must mean the little board that has the VGA plug on it? The RGB01? Mine doesn't have a fuse. Strange. So you have a colour system? An MFX1 or MFX2? It's certainly at least rev 6 as you've got a wave super. Then this pin on the CMI 28 got br

The machine is a 9.34 CMI : I bought the VGA card later from Peter Wielk, and installed it without issue when the machine was still working. The fuse is a tiny surface mounted thing on the Main on the main ESP-CG3 card. I blew it because I kicked the VGA plug out by accident whil

Hey Arron So, that's Chris Alfred's "new" diagnostics screen for the Waveform Super, CMI41. The address error that occurred is happening in the other 68K board, the Wave Super, CMI41. That screen has little to do with the CMI28, AFAIK Are you saying you typed "DI" at the prompt?

Hi Joe, I would think that CMI-3 board repair could be a fairly lucrative sideline to compliment someone's main job. There are many of us who would pay a good price to have a board repaired as it is imperative to keeping the system running. I would pay £ 100.00 - £ 150.00 to have
