I wish Video Games allowed us gigs of room to do our stuff... we're still restricted to Megs (and K in some instances). Each car, in a game I'm working on at the minute, has a 350k limit (this includes engine loops, engine foley and horns (I think)). I like limitations from a cre

This is an interesting one. I see students doing track inefficient things in Pro Tools to do things that we would've achieved more efficiently in the olden days, but would've taken a good bit longer and would be less easy to control. So I take the view that the gigabytes and high

I was looking at the features- how does one load up older Fairlight disks? There's no SCSI for series 3, no floppy drive for IIx. Can it read disk image files at least?

Just wanted to extend a public thanks to Peter, Peter, and Roger for their hospitality this evening, and for allowing me to view (and briefly hear) the new Series 30A in person. It is equal parts incredible, amazing, and charming - MUST be seen to be believed. I wish them all the

I'm a sound designer (and composer) for video games, starting out in the earlier days and noobs have very little idea of restriction. Yes, we still work within strict limitations but nothing like it used to be. I do like restrictions though, it makes me think outside of the box a

Andrew Brent is STILL a nice guy! I just spoke to him a moment ago. He was in a pub, and it's p*ssing with rain, however he had the good sense to build his house at the top of a hill, and is OK. Sadly, a lot of his fellow Queenslanders didn't, and an area the size of France and G

Yeah, Andrew Brent was a really nice guy. I used to work at a place called MachineHead in the 90's and as you stated he was always available when needed to support MFX 2&3's as well as a couple Series III's the owner had. Hope he's doing okay!! Sent from my iPhone On Jan 5, 2011,

Although I am quietly excited by the birth of this 21st century Fairlight, at this moment it is tempered with a little worry for ol' Andrew Brent whom, I believe, lives in the flood area. Andrew, I have misplaced your Email, but you are being worried about here in Santa Monica. F

Why not create the Fairlight CMI sound as a software instrument and give the tactile over to newer technology such as iPad as a controller. What makes the Fairlight CMI so loved is the sounds and the way they were programmed. Just an idea.

Forget faking a CMI. I tried it for years. It's the same with a MiniMoog and all the other vintage synths that became favourites. You can't completely replace them. Some sounds can, but the sounds that you can't reproduce, that's the part that makes it a favourite vintage. A CMI
