Hi there. If anyone's interested, I posted a couple of pictures of the IIX LCD screenshots in the "photos" section of "Peter Wielks pictures". Regards, Peter Wielk in sunny Sydney...

very cute but how do you work with the optical pen now ? or perhaps do you have an other solution to draw waveform and edit notes in page R ? regards --- In Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups.com, "horiprod" <horizontal_productions@h...> wrote:

Hi Peter, Many thanks for the LCD pics. It would be great to be able to use an LCD with the CMI 2X but is it not impossible to use the light pen ? What LCD did you use ? How did you wire the cable ? I hope all is well ! Cheers, James Thomson Magic Audio Co. The Studio West Hampstead London NW2 3RJ U.K.

Hi all,
Any monitor with a composite video input would do the trick... I did
plug
my CMI 3 on an LCD projector... It was really cool and the Series 3
doesn't
have the light-pen issue...
Best regards.

Hi all. As Laurent correctly points out, it isn't rocket science to get another composite monitor working with a IIX (or II or I or even III). I posted the picture as it looked, in my opinion, interestingly different from the 1950's style normal IIX monitor. I have made, and still make, interfaces to allow the light pen to work with modern monitors. However, since a lot of folk here are reluctant to pay anything for another persons R&D work, I'll wait to post a commercial product on a finished website in due course. Regards, Peter Wielk

Hi Laurent. The concept of a IIX (or III) touch screen is very interesting. I know the hardware's available (I use them in high end AV systems every day), it's wether this could be integrated into the ancient IIX or III code. I have a programming friend at work - I'll ask him tomorrow. Bon soir! Peter

Hello Peter,
I don't have a IIx, but I would be curious to know
more about the light-pen replacement. On my side,
I was thinking that an LCD monitor with a touch
sensitive interface would be so much fun to replace
the original monitor & light-pen. The Fostex Foundation
2000 has this kind of interface. It's so much cool to
use that I did find myself trying to edit stuff on
my 01V the same way... without succes ! ;-))
Regards.
Laurent.

Crazy that you mention the foundation I have a foundation 2000 with dancing fader mixer and have yet to find a replacement. Nothing sounds as good and is as easy to use. The interface you mention has long time been the easiest to use interface I have seen. I do not know why more manufacturers have not adopted touch screen technology. there is a french company that is going to be making a touchscreen controller but it is not out yet looks promising.
