IIx Front panel circuit board connections please and some help!

IIx Front panel circuit board connections please and some help!

2006-01-04 by twharleyman

Hi All,

I am trying to revive a Series IIx that had previously been missing
the front panel and has sat idle for many years. I managed to get a
new panel made several years ago and had the circuit board but I
dont have details of how this board connects to the other cards in
the mainframe. I can see that it should possibly connect via a 20
pin connector, the one on the side of the board, to the CPU control
card but I'm at a loss where the bottom connector goes too. Is it
there for test purposes only or does it link to another card. I've
had a look at the IIx Service Manual but this doesn't realy help.

Ideally a picture of the front panel opened up would be a great help.

Apart from this I also have a problem with the CMI-02 card which
prevents the system from running and causes a series of vertical
lines on the monitor. It was working before but I think I made a
bad connection while trying to sort out the front panel! If the card
is removed the system will start to boot a system disk (stops
because the CMI-02 card isn't there so there is no music system!) or
fully boot an OS disk. Anybody got any tips what to look for on the
board?

Thanks in advance.

Tony

Hi Harald,

Sorted out the connections and the front panel circuit board is now
working correctly. I just have to try and get hold of a replacement
CMI-02 Master Card or repair the one I have. I'll make a plee on
the forum.

Thanks again.

Tony

Hi Tony,

Good to hear you got the panel sorted out. Sorry about your card, I do not
have a replacement for it. Try scanning ebay (more on ebay in a minute) or
ask the group.

Regards,
Harald.

Welcome to eBayopia

2006-01-06 by Harald Feldmann

On ebay:

Ebay Netherlands introduced a new user agreement, stating many things, but
one thing caught my eye:

"6.3 Licentie.

Suggesting: I give Ebay the nonexclusive, worldwide, uninterrupted,
irrevokable, royaltyfree, (via multiple third parties) transferrable
license to exercise my copyrights, trademark rights, publicity and
database rights which I have with regard to my information provided to
eBay in any currently known and, as yet, unknown media as far as necessary
to supply me with ebays' services. I also waive any moral rights which I
might have with regard to my information to the highest degree allowed by
law.

I think this is a pretty dictatorial statement from eBay to allow me to
have them earn money while I buy products from a stranger.

I am seriously reconsidering dopping my ebay account just because of it.
Any thoughts ?

Regards,
Harald.
