At this point I can preview a sound but can't seem to load any sounds. When I press load for a particular sound the monitoring says it's loading. The music keyboards display still say's fairlight III. But there's no sound comming out of the keyboard. Does anyone have any idea why. thanks Gt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Have you set the polyphony of the voices? When you first boot up and load a voice, you then need to set the polyphony for that voice, othewise it won't play...After loading a voice, type np16 (or any number from 1 to 16).Cheers,Peter

Hi Peter,Just a little correction. If you don't type in the np command the SIII will usually play the voice monophonic. At least mine does :-)Unfortunately I can't explain why GT's voices won't play. GT, when you load a voice, does the Fairlight sign flash in the upper left corner of the screen and does it stop after a while? Are there any activity on your drive when loading? Does the cursor reappear on the command line after loading without any errors?Best regardsBrianBest regardsHave you set the polyphony of the voices? Hi all,
I do think that if you create a voice with the "VC" command,
the Fairlight creates a default sound which is a sin wave.
So you should be able to test your voice cards before trying
to load a sound from the HD.
Hope it helps.

Hi Brian,Maybe mine does too. Hmmmm. I always tend to type in a poly number as the voice is loading, so never really tried this... I'll give this a try tonight though, just out of curiosity.P

Hi Greg. I dont know if you have sorted this problem yet but it looks like the cable between your music keyboard and the mainframe is at fault. Either that or the 9 pin d sub connectors are worn out. If your keyboard displays 'fairlight' after boot up its not talking to the mainframe. An easy way to check this is to load several voices and step through them in the SC page. As you do this the screen on the keyboard will will display the corresponding voice name. I had the very same problem. I remade the cable (which turned out to be fine) I then replaced the 9 pin d sub connector on the mainframe and this worked. Hope this is of help Regards Tony --- In Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups.com, greg thurman <trevon12001@...> wrote:
