Hi,

    I just wanted to say a big thanks to Peter Wielk for his invaluable contributions to the Fairlight group. It's really good that someone who has been involved with Fairlight since the early 80's still takes the time to answer new users queries.

Thankyou James, and all the other Fairlight community folk who have posted these kind words. 

As a bit of backround, after working with Peter Gabriel in the late 1970s, I was fortunate to work at the Fairlight factory in Sydney through most of the 1980s. This was an amazing company at a very interesting time - the very birth of sampling. 

Sampling changed the face of music forever. 

I am still as passionate about this "old" technology now as I was then, and have a small business supporting what I believe to be legendary musical instruments. There will be a website soon at : www.horizontalproductions.com.au

While we are on the subject on saying "thanks", I would like to join that gesture and also say: "Thank you". Also I would like to extend my thanks to all people that have helped in the past and the ones that are still helping today. To mention some : JB from France, for his fabulous work on a fantastic website. Greg Holmes.... Please don't think I don't appreciate your contribution, if your name is not mentioned, these names just came to mind at this moment.
One special person that realy is a big hero for me is Joe Sleator. To him I would like to say an extra big "Thanks soooo much", for the hardware, the caring and the kindness........

Thanks, Peter for the kind words.

Here are some illustrious others that deserve thanks and some not mentioned yet...

Joe Britt for USB2CMI lightpen replacement, and lots of wonderful preservation efforts and ROM to Source code reverse engineering, and for keeping me enthusiastic about this wonderful technology and being a great reverse engineering role model.

Steve Rance for being a good and patient boss long ago, and for his contributions here and enthusiasm for all things Fairlight.

KMI - Klaus Michael Indlekofer - for CMIOS9.exe - now open source - woo! And for his extremely detailed reverse engineering site for CMIs. Reverse engineering the I/II/IIx file formats would've been much more difficult without his patient assistance and suggestions. Much of his material was worked out in a virtual vacuum without significant assistance.

Clay Janes for loaning PV's 30A team a IIx for NAMM, and for offering me some desperately needed components.

WT - for giving lots of friendly advice here, and to me about PPG stuff!

And of course, PV (already mentioned, and obvious) for inventing this stuff in the first place, for his gentle and patient nature, and for hiring such good people over the years!

And of course the many others still doing Fairlight magic who aren't on this list!

The best things in life often come from dedicated and persistent group efforts!
