Here's again something I made with the latest version of Logic: http://www.hz37land.com/frozen_genie.mp3 It's a "mashup" of two well known songs with tons of effects. Share and enjoy! Hens Zimmerman -- http://www.hz37land.com

I just ordered a new G5 iMac and will need to move Logic and all of my songs and settings over to the new iMac once it arrives. I'm looking for suggestions and tips from anyone who's done this before. You know... Things to look out for and things not to forget. I'm also going to need to unregister my EWQLSO and reregister it on my new iMac. Any tips on that would be appreciated too. Kamm

i think i would :
1. upgrade the OS using "Software Update". Many times they are shipped with
slighly older OS's. Repair Disk permissions
2. Install any audio or midi interfaces. Run the AudioMidi utiity to set
those up.
3. install Logic, and get updates via software update, run through the setup
wizard, repair permisions.
4. Copy over your Logic song files.
5. Copy logic preferences folder ...to desktop to use for importing key
commands
6. If you have made any custom patches for virtual synths or plugins, you'll
need to think about that. Its a bit of a headache since they are stored in so
many places. For example
Library > Application Support > (plug name)
Library > Audio > Plug Ins > Settings
Applications Folder > (plug name)
and other places, including the user version of all of the above.
( I think Apple needs to remember KISS (keep it simple stupid) in this
regard)
7. Set up Autoload files. Library > Application Support > Logic > Templates
and user version of that ~/YourName/Application Support/Logic/Templates
8. You might need to change your screensets if the monitor size is different.
9. Remember you get 90 days of free support from Apple - although they won't
answer any question, but just those related to your installation.
(I am writing this from memory so there may be some errors in the above, but
generally I think thats the process).2005-08-08 by Gregory Anderson
Also, don't forget that OS X has a transfer wizard that uses firewire to automatically transfer all your system settings from the old to the new computer, including, I believe, iLife stuff like your addresses and emails. Gregory

It saved me hours of work and worked perfectly for me. It will not work if your older computer is before OSX (not sure how far back it goes in versions) Aloha - Brad White Website: http://pan-flute.com

I also just ordered the 7.1 update, so I guess I'll just go ahead and install that first and then to the software updates. > 5. Fortunately I haven't got a terrific number of custom patches. At least I don't think I do. <grin> > 7. Set up Autoload files. This is *very* tempting. Although I'm sure it will also copy over settings of programs I no longer have installed. Does this wizard give you the opportunity to choose which settings are moved and which are not? Thanks, Kamm P.S. Thanks to you too Brad.

Why to the desktop?
