Not to burst your bubble - but there are dozens of Apple User Groups
that have been in existence for years before this one...

I think the word does get around though. And I think some emagic people are on various lists including this one - at least reading if not posting much. Many people are on multiple lists too, so there is a cross fertilizaton of ideas. And sometimes a smaller group is better - imagine trying to decide on dinner if 20,000 people were involved in the decision. The Apple Forums for Logic are not that old but they are really better in many ways than the lists. So all together there are, and should be even more different avenues for communication amoung the many hundreds of thousands of users.

Why? These groups are not for Apple's benefit, they are for ours. If
belonging to this group helps you use Logic better, that is more
valuable than anything.

We - the users and the developers - are a symbiant pair. We need each other and we both need Logic to be good and easy to use. Logic would die if people stop buying it and using it. If it were too hard to use or missing important features, then people would migrate to other software. In fact, I have already seen some people do that - going to Nuendo, Protools, or Paris (there used to be a famous and very active member of the LUG who totally gave up on Logic some years ago). Its a two way street - although Apple and Emagic might appear standoffish officially. They must keep their ear to wind to see what is happening in the world ... I think Abelton Live has influenced Apple Loops and all that stuff now built into Logic. Somehow the word gets around....

An easy arpeggiator plug in. Kind of like how UltraBeat works. Also
more delay types with more control over them.

Thats a good idea. I guess the matrix editor is kinda like an arp.

I kinda wish the mixer page would fit my cinema display without having scroll left to right or up and down. I would prefer smaller faders but where I can see everything at once.

I often wanted a cleaner single window but with pallets in the window which are customizable in size and shape to a little greater degree than now.

I would also like to be able to do some more interesting midi things to a melody to make a theme and variations automatically.

I wouild like to see a PAN diagram showing which tracks are panned to which position - a half circle with track numbers on the periphery of the circle show dead center or left or right to what degree.

Oh I do agree that we are an important resource for Apple, my point is
that it is not a paying position...

Yep- and I use it that way occasionally- I guess I'm looking for an
UltraBeat style UI that makes it easy to make quick musical patterns
and allows you to play them with a MIDI keyboard like UltraBeat. It
might allow you to layer virtual and MIDI instruments so you can create
dense layers of sound that respond to a few controllers.

Have you tried making a window set that fits a certain portion of the
faders in that space, at least you can conveniently view smaller chunks
of the Mixer Layout and switch between them quickly. You can make up to
99 window sets (!) per session. I make templates with window sets
already worked out, so when I start a new session- blammo- I'm able to
see things the way I want.

I think this is possible with Window Sets, you should really look into
this. Window Sets are one of the most powerful and under-utilized of
Logic's features IMO.

You can make an arpeggiator object in environments but I've never been
able to get this to work right... It seems overly cumbersome to use,
I'd love an easy arpeggiator that works like UltraBeat- I love
UltraBeat- - Do you know:

a) That in the latest version of LogicPro you can simply drag patterns
made in UltraBeat to the arrange window.

b) You can then split the resulting track by pitch and get a bunch of
MIDI tracks all nice and seperated with each drum sound on it's own
track. This allows you to create audio files out of each drum part,
apply individual groove templates on individual percussion parts, and
reassign or layer MIDI parts to other sources for drum sounds, like ESX
or external drum modules.

A better sample editor with
-rendering of effects (Soundtrack Pro style with layers)
-stereo/mono conversion
-batch conversion

Channelstrip name visible!

Better navigation of presets.

Midi in/out info without having to have a transport window open (ie
on the arrange transport)

EXS redesign with functions that addresses the requirements of the
latest in sample libraries. Fix virtual memory!

I agree with the need for a good quality arpeggiater plugin. Perhaps
Touch Tracks should be revisited by Apple. It's a great idea, but
much underutilised due to a simplistic interface. Touch tracks should
be a midi plug in with a good GUI.

Midi plug ins would be great. eg track based LFOs, algorithmic
potential, build your own. Cubase has it, even Kontakt has added this
recently so there is obviously a need for it.

Apple loops need better sorting and definition parameters (user
definable subfolders, categories).

I could come up with more, but I wonder who's listening.
