New microtuned Logic-produced commercial pop

New microtuned Logic-produced commercial pop

2007-04-07 by Charles Lucy

Those interested in microtuned Logic Pro 7 productions may appreciate
the track "Sometimes",
which uses only two LucyTuned chords, with some .exs samples and will
be on the new Siobhan album "Ghosts".

I guess my ears are acustomed to our lousy equal tempered system to the point
where the 2nd chord in that song sounds somehow lacking.

On the unrelated topic of micro-timing (ala BT), Logic allows grids up to
64th notes (or 96th or 192th notes but those have triplets). However, a 64th note
is 60 ticks (960*4/64). So you can get 128th notes by changing the duration
and offsets to 30 ticks, and 256th notes for 15 ticks. For BT to get 1/2048
notes, it would be 15/4 = 3.75 ticks which is not exactly possible, so he would
have to position audio via exact time, at least if he is using logic still.

Yes BT (Brian Transeau). He has mentioned this in print interviews and you
can find some video interviews on youtube. He was saying that he recorded rain
falling then time corrected it on a micro-timing scale. He said that the notes
go by so fast you can't really make out individual notes but the mind still
recognizes little patterns even at that level.

He also a big Logic user, but he endorses everything. I heard him say he only
uses macs and apples (in person, and in print) then later he saying how cool
these AMD PC's are that they gave him.
