I'm afraid I don't have a 3880 but I do have a 3800 with Epson K3 inks and several 4000's with Cone K7 inks. My experience so far is limited to matte papers, however I don't think that the K3 3800 can touch the K7 4000's for quality - the K7 tones are smoother. I'm going to be fitting the warm neutral glossy K7 inks to yet another 4000 shortly so it will be interesting to see how it compares, however my money is on the Cone set.
