How do I create a new "Printing Model"

How do I create a new "Printing Model"

2005-09-30 by Jamie Creed

I'm playing around with various inkset configurations and would like
to know how to create different Printing Models, just to keep things
a little more organised.

I noticed in a message from Roy, and quote:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"One more thing: I separated the profiles for different inksets so
they are not all together.

The main organizational change is to add the ink type to the printer
names for the non-epson inks. So 2200 with NK7 inks will be Quad2200-
NK7. UT7 inks are under Quad2200-UT7 etc.

If you use the install scripts that I have you can do your own
inksets easily by renaming the Install script.
So Install4000-CSNK would give you a Quad4000-CSNK printer.

Roy"

could someone please explain how to go about this,

Jamie

I'm using a Mac and I just highlight the file name of the installer script in the finder and type the new name. When you run the re-named installer it will create a new Quad printer with the new name you used for the installer and if it is in a folder with curve files they will also be installed. In the example, CSNK stands for carbon sepia and neutral K inksets, which just happens to be what I'm currently using in my 4000 in a dual quad configuration.

Cheers Carl,

thanks for the pointers and info; unfortunately I'm a PC user, but
you're reply gave me an idea, and I think I have managed to do it.

I copied and pasted one of the .ppd files and renamed it, then I ran
the curve creation tool and created a curve and saved the ink
descriptor file .qidf to a new profile folder named accordingly (for
my new inkset,) so then when I selected "create curve" a new
corresponding QUAD file seemed to be produced and seems to work.

If anybody knows the correct way to produce a new "Printing Model"
for us PC users it would be much appreciated,

Jamie.
